Sunlabob featured alongside fellow global social innovators in prominent directory

Sunlabob Director Andy Schroeter and Simon Henschel have been featured in a social entrepreneurs directory published by the Schwab Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation founded with the purpose of advancing social entrepreneurship and to foster social entrepreneurs as an important catalyst for societal innovation and progress.

In 2010, Henschel and Schroeter were awarded with the Schwab Foundation Social Entrepreneur of the year award (Asia region) at the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting of the New Champions 2010, held in Tianjin, People’s Republic of China. The World Economic Forum is an independent international organisation committed to improving the state of the world by engaging leaders in partnerships to shape global, regional and industry agendas.

Every year, the Schwab Foundation and its partners identify 20-25 outstanding entrepreneurs to become members of its community of social entrepreneurs. Today this community comprises 200 social innovators with a proven record of global impact. The social entrepreneur directory gives an overview of the sectors and countries in which these entrepreneurs are active.

Both Henschel and Schroeter are the only Lao-based entrepreneurs to be featured in the directory. Under their leadership, Sunlabob has taken rural electrification in Laos and surrounding regions to new heights by constantly innovating and introducing innovative business models and sustainable renewable energy solutions to remote areas where the public electricity grid does not reach.
