Accolade from investment and CSR experts reinforces company’s position as high impact growth-stage social enterprise

Sunlabob recently was recognized by the Make a Difference (MaD) Ventures Fellows program in Hong Kong for its innovative, high-impact business-based approach to sustainable development solutions. As a growth-stage social enterprise, Sunlabob joined 30 socially and environmentally impactful enterprises from around the world that are seeking potential investors and business partners to aid in the scale-up of their innovative socially-based businesses.

“As a socially-driven, commercially-rooted enterprise that delivers renewable energy and clean water to many of the poorest regions of the world, Sunlabob views the socially-responsible, impact investor community as an important contributor to our continued growth and increased global reach,” said Andy Schroeter, Sunlabob Renewable Energy co-founder and CEO.

Founded in 2001, Sunlabob has expanded beyond its Laos-based roots to bring its community-based, self-sustaining models for rural electrification and clean water throughout the Asia-Pacific region, Africa and India. As a growth-stage company, Sunlabob is currently considering potential impact investment offers that would broaden opportunities for greater international impact.

The MaD Ventures Fellows program, which was founded by the Hong Kong Institute of Contemporary Culture caters to investors, finance and investment professionals, philanthropists, CSR practitioners and business executives looking for new product ideas and opportunities, particularly in regards to the environment, education, information technology and health care sectors.

“Sunlabob is thrilled to be recognized within this group of innovators that are successfully generating measurable social and environmental impact alongside a financial return,” said Lloyd Osborne, CFO, Sunlabob, who represented the company at the event which included more than 1,000 attendees. “The MaD Ventures Forum further validates Sunlabob’s approach as a profit-driven, socially-motivated company and Hong Kong is an important platform for us given its status as international center for trade and finance.”
